Genie Garage Door Openers From Low End to High End

Genie is one of the oldest and most reputable names in garage door opener systems. It is based out of the USA and was first established in 1923, although it was in other lines of consumer and industrial products at that time. It produced its first garage door opener unit in 1954, and has been growing ever since. Today’s Genie garage door openers are among the most widely used in both the USA and the world. They are constantly innovating, making their units quieter, more powerful, safer, and more reliable.
This article will focus on some of the Genie openers which are easier for the individual to install themselves. Of course, a professional could be brought in to install these if need be. There are other openers which work well too, but their installation is a little more complicated. Always consult the user installation manual to see what Genie themselves recommend: whether you should do it yourself (DIY) or have a pro do it for a small fee.
DirectLift Screw Drive and DirectLift Plus Screw Drive
This garage door opener has the benefit of being extremely quiet. This is often a feature that people forget to take into consideration when purchasing, but as you can well imagine (maybe from past experience) the volume of noise can make a huge difference. Your neighbors will be thankful too.
Its screws are made of solid steel which only adds to the strength and durability of the unit. The DirectLift Screw Drive has a .5 horsepower motor which has held up well in both tests as well as plain old everyday use by everyday people. Basically, this unit is built in such a way as to work (and work well) over the long run: exactly what you want.
The DirectLift Plus Screw Drive has all of the above features plus a few added benefits. For one, it comes with a remote control, wireless keypad, and even a flashlight. Finally, the Plus version utilizes Genie Intellicode technology in order to minimize the possibility of an intruder breaking in to your garage. Its entry code is automatically changed each and every time the system is activated.
PowerLift Excelerator and PowerLift Plus Excelerator
Both of these Genie garage door openers utilize a .5 horsepower DC motor. The opening and closing speeds are twice as quick as Genie’s other garage door openers on average, which means less time spent waiting to see if it’s going to close all the way, as well as less time waiting for it to open so you can get into your garage, hop in your car, and hit the road! Both of them also have the Intellicode security system spoken of above.
The PowerLift is also quiet like the DirectLift. It works well in all types of weather. Finally, it has two light sockets to illuminate your garage at night (60 watt bulbs).
The PowerLift Plus adds a direct drive motor system in order to lift the heaviest of garage doors. It uses a 120 watt light system for maximum illumination. It has a solid steel construction and uses less moving parts than other systems.

QuietLift Belt Drive and Safe-T-Beam System
All of the above Genie garage door openers utilize Genie’s Safe-T-Beam safety system. Basically, this is a built-in infrared sensor which is able to sense if anything (living or inanimate) is blocking the path of the closing garage door. When it senses anything it automatically reverses course and travels back up into the ceiling of your garage. Something of this sort is, I believe, mandatory in all garage door openers being manufactured and sold in the United States (and probably most other countries) today. Legislation and regulation was imposed a long time ago after some dangerous mishaps with the early opening units.
Genie Garage Door Opener Parts
Finally, we can take a look at Genie garage door parts, which are not all that different from Liftmaster garage door opener parts. If you don’t get a system which already comes pre-installed with the Intellicode system, then this can be purchased and installed separately from Genie itself. Many, if not all, of these parts can also be purchased from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sears, and various other home improvement and hardware stores. Other accessories that can purchased and installed afterward include wireless key entry, universal hard-wired key entry as well as the deluxe wall console, an emergency release kit which makes it possible to open or close the garage in case of power failure, and maintenance items and extension kits. The bottom line is that millions of people have already been rewarded for putting their faith and trust, as well as the safety of their families, in Genie garage door openers.
Garage door openers are an integral part of custom homes. Almost every home owner today includes an attached two car garage to their home. And of course garage door repair is part of owning garage doors.

Genie makes a great garage door opener, i have owned one for years and never had a problem. Great article, thanks for sharing.
These Genie garage door openers are durable and quiet. I have installed quite a few of them and never had any call backs.
That image you have with the 1/2 horse power Genie garage doorway opener is 1 I bought and put in myself and is a the genuine photo employed on my flickr internet site. It is a screw driven DC motor and quite peaceful. I enjoy it. May be the place with the mounting for the garage doorway itself very good? I maintain it up with yearly lubrication. Excellent item with fast, quiet operation.
